I see the parallel created by the clearly intelligent Charlie Kaufman I offer my further thoughts on this important perception society holds so dear at the cost of suppresion of thought, financial gain and personal wellness:

The idea of God and the accountability of humans to him was clearly created long ago by men of intelligence to establish order and present laws to govern the vast amount of people in the world and their incredibly diverse rules of their perception of what is right and wrong. Helped greatly by stories and random instances of embellished "miracles" to validate the idea of a supreme power. Again validating these rules to support these "leaders" whom of course are men of means and ultimately creating more means for these men. * that was fun to say, sorry for the loose pun.
* Not to mention centuries of war validated and defended by man as God's will.
Back to the topic: Breaking this all down we can call the idea of God synomymous with the old cliche' "The Man" and by supporting the man and being fearful of him for persecution, reprisal or suppression of one's own views we are in fact allowing our decisions to be based on what God/The Man has set before us as "rules." All leading to suppressing the sheep and feeding the wolves..ok another one twisted a bit, but ensures clarity of my closing comment.

Thank you for your thought provoking question. Power to the People!
